Pompeii Antiquarium closed for works: rooms shut from 4 November, full closure from 23 November to 7 December 2026
The Antiquarium, the museum inside the ruins of Pompeii, is closing for refitting: three rooms from 4 November, the whole museum from 23 November to 7 December 2026. The rest of the archaeological park stays open.

What changes
- From 4 to 22 November 2026 three rooms are closed: Vivere nel lusso (Living in luxury), A fundamentis reficere and L'ultimo giorno (The last day). The rest of the route is open.
- From 23 November to 7 December 2026 the Antiquarium is fully closed.
- In both phases the upper floor of the bookshop stays open.
- The lift works throughout, for visitors with reduced mobility.
The Park describes the work as a major renewal of the exhibition spaces. Only the indoor museum is affected: the streets, houses and baths of the ruins stay open.

Stabian Baths: different exit
- Since 19 October 2026 one room of the Stabian Baths has been closed.
- So you cannot exit onto Via dell'Abbondanza: the exit is on Via Stabiana.
- This applies until further notice.
Tip: if you want to see the full Antiquarium, wait until after 7 December and check the notices on pompeiisites.org. Nothing changes for the ruins: take the Circumvesuviana (the local train) to Pompei Scavi - Villa dei Misteri.
