Seasons and weather
- April–June: flowers, cool footpaths, the sea warming up from June. The best time for walking.
- July–August: hot, perfect sea, island packed during the day. Life happens early in the morning and in the evening.
- September–October: the sea still warm, soft light, fewer groups. The favourite of people who know the island.
- November–March: a quiet, green island, many hotels and restaurants closed; the funicular stops from January to Easter. Hydrofoils are less frequent and cancelled in rough seas.
Tip: for the patron saints' feasts, stay on the island: the processions go by in the evening, when the day-trippers have already left.
When the island is full
- Between 11:00 and 16:00 from May to September, especially at Marina Grande, on the funicular and in the Piazzetta.
- On the Easter, 25 April, 1 May and 2 June holiday weekends.
- In August, around Ferragosto (15 August).
Since summer 2026 organised groups are limited to 40 people, with earpieces above 20: the streets of the centre are a little easier to enjoy.

Frequently asked questions
Who was San Costanzo?
Capri's patron saint. According to tradition, the saint's body arrived on the island from the sea, near Marina Grande, where the church dedicated to him stands. His feast is on 14 May.
What is the Settembrata Anacaprese?
Anacapri's grape-harvest festival, which began in the 1920s: a parade of floats and costumes, market stalls and music in the square. In 2026 the parade was on 30 August, dedicated to the bicentenary of the Blue Grotto.
Is Capri worth visiting in winter?
Yes, if you are after silence and footpaths: no crowds and lower prices. But many places close, hydrofoils are less frequent and may be cancelled in rough seas.
What is Capri Hollywood?
A film festival held every year between Christmas and early January, with screenings in Capri and Anacapri. The 2026–2027 edition is scheduled from 26 December to 2 January.
