The dates fall at the start of awards season and the race for the Oscars.
How to plan
- Choose your dates once the programme is out, if you want to see a specific film.
- Before booking, check that your accommodation is open: many places on Capri close in winter.
- Allow a spare night: hydrofoils can be cancelled in rough seas.
- Between Christmas and New Year, always check the last sailing to Naples.
Tip: if you simply want the festival atmosphere, aim for the days around 30 December, well away from the uncertain start date.
