Herculaneum: the House of the Mosaic Atrium and the Trellis House reopen. The House of the Bicentenary closes from 9 November
On Thursday 5 November 2026 the Herculaneum Archaeological Park presents the reopening of the House of the Mosaic Atrium (Casa dell'Atrio a Mosaico) and the Trellis House (Casa a Graticcio), closed to the public for decades. From Monday 9 November, however, the House of the Bicentenary closes for maintenance.

What changes for visitors
- The House of the Mosaic Atrium and the Trellis House, two of the most important homes of the ancient town, reopen.
- The reopening is presented by the director Federica Colaiacomo on Thursday 5 November 2026 at 11:00, in the Antiquarium.
- The House of the Bicentenary closes for maintenance from Monday 9 November 2026.
- The Villa of the Papyri is also still closed for maintenance; Villa Sora can be visited on the first Sunday of the month.
The Park's notices do not say from which exact day you can enter the two reopened houses, or whether timed slots or a separate ticket are needed. Ask at the ticket office when you arrive.

The two houses are part of the Domus Project, the conservation of six of Herculaneum's most important homes.

Tip: the Park is open from 8:30 to 17:00, last entry at 15:30. It gets dark early in November: go in the morning so you can see everything without rushing.
