What it means for hosts
- Whoever collects the payment for the stay collects the tax and pays it to the City.
- Every property must be registered on the City's GEIS portal, even if it uses a platform as an intermediary.
- Returns and payments are quarterly, by the 15th of the month after the quarter ends.
- Failing to file a return carries a penalty of 100% to 200% of the amount due; late payment carries 30%.
Tip: for a long stay, only the first 14 nights count: in a 4-star hotel that is €84 per person at most.
According to the City, 30% of the increase goes to support for pupils with disabilities and to child welfare funds.
