Procida from Naples: the Corricella, Terra Murata and how to get there
Procida is the smallest and most authentic of the islands in the bay: pastel-coloured houses, fishing boats and lanes where life goes on as it always has. It was Italy's Capital of Culture in 2022 and is easy to explore in a day from Naples.

What to see
- Marina Grande (Sancio Cattolico), the port, with colourful houses along the waterfront.
- Terra Murata, the fortified village on the highest point of the island, with the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo and the former prison of Palazzo d'Avalos.
- The viewpoint over the Corricella, along the climb up to Terra Murata: this is the postcard view.
- Marina Corricella, the fishing village at the foot of Terra Murata, with houses stacked one on top of the other and trattorias on the little harbour.
- La Chiaiolella, at the other end of the island, with its beach and the bridge to the islet of Vivara.
Tip: walk up to Terra Murata in the morning, go down to the Corricella for lunch and spend the afternoon on the beach at the Chiaiolella. Procida is small but the roads are narrow: keep to the wall side when cars pass.
Procida or Capri?
Capri is more spectacular and more crowded; Procida is smaller, quieter and cheaper, with the feel of a real village. If you want a relaxed day, choose Procida.
