Christmas markets in Naples 2026: San Gregorio Armeno, Pietrarsa and more

In Naples the most famous Christmas market has no wooden huts but artisans' workshops: it's the nativity scene street of San Gregorio Armeno. Alongside it is the biggest market in the area, in the old Pietrarsa railway museum, ten minutes by train from the centre. Here are the dates, hours and tickets for the 2026 edition.

San Gregorio Armeno: the nativity scene fair

The street of the nativity scene (presepe) artisans, between Via dei Tribunali and Via San Biagio dei Librai, is open all year round. In 2026 the Christmas fair opens on 1 November, earlier than in the past, at the artisans' request: the red huts return along the street next to the workshops.

Here you can buy terracotta shepherd figures, miniature houses and shops, lights and fountains for the nativity scene, lucky horn charms (cornetti) and figurines of the year's famous people. For 2026 the artisans have announced figurines dedicated to the America's Cup, which will be raced in Naples in 2027 (dates and calendar).

Tip: go in the morning, before 10:00, on a weekday. At weekends in December and over the Immaculate Conception long weekend the street is packed and you move at a crawl. Read the full guide to San Gregorio Armeno.

Pietrarsa: the market in the railway museum

The Pietrarsa National Railway Museum is housed in the old Bourbon workshops, by the sea between Naples and Portici. At Christmas its halls and the pavilions with historic locomotives host the biggest market in the Naples area: stalls of crafts and local products, food, lights and shows for children.

Other Christmas events in the city

The City of Naples' 2026 programme has not been published yet. We know that the Altri Natali events festival will run from 8 December 2026 to 10 January 2027 across all ten of the city's districts (Municipalità). In the last edition, in early January, Piazza Mercato hosted the Fiera del Giocattolo e della Calza (toy and stocking fair) for Epiphany. We will update this page as soon as the official dates are out.
